A Family Tradition Since 1892
Swain Farm Fresh Beef is produced at the Swains' family farm south of Blackstock, Ontario. The Swain farm has been in operation since 1892. Scott Swain is the fourth generation on the farm. He and his wife, Nicole live on the home farm with their daughter Taylor and work with Scott's parents Don and Louise in the family business.
All cattle at the Swains' farm are raised on home grown corn and alfalfa. The cattle are not given any hormones or antibiotics. Truly a family farm, the Swains not only appreciate the history of their farm, but also think about the future. They pride themselves on being good stewards of the land and producing superb beef for you and your family. They have completed two Environmental Farm Plans and make environmentally conscious decisions in their farming operation. The farm today is 220 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat and hay fields. There is a small maple sugar bush in the north-west corner and Don's brother, Ralph makes maple syrup each spring.
As active members of the community, Don, Louise, Scott and Nicole volunteer for many groups and organizations in Durham Region. The Federation of Agriculture, Cattlemen's Association, Durham Farm Fresh Marketing Association, and Durham Farm Connections are a few of the causes they support.
